The Automotive Distribution Federation was one of the prime instigators of the UK ‘Right to Repair’ Campaign.
Speculation regarding the future of EU regulations, coupled with accelerating changes in the complex electronic systems in road vehicles, highlighted the need for companies in the independent aftermarket to protect their ability to supply parts for, and service, customer’s vehicles.
To fail to address this important topic would have dire consequences for ADF members (who supply replacement parts and materials), for their customers (independent garages, body repair workshops, ‘fast-fits’, etc.) and for the motoring public (individuals and fleet owners).
Thus the ADF gives its wholehearted support to the R2RC-UK group, and to the pan-European campaign.
Details of these campaigns may be found via the links below:

Since the introduction of European legislation EU1400/2002 ‘Motor Vehicle Block Exemption Regulation’ the ADF has assisted its members, their customers and motorists in combating anti-competitive behaviour by car companies and their franchised dealers.
Key to this work has been the circulation of an informative ADF leaflet, which details technical terms and the rights of the consumer under ‘MV-BER’. Since the formation of the ‘Right to Repair’ Campaign, the leaflet has been updated to reflect the ‘R2RC’ message. Copies are available from the ADF (free to members of the public – for trade quantities there is a small fee).
We at the ADF are pleased that so many ADF member companies have pledged their support – financial, people and activities – to the ‘Right to Repair’ Campaign. If you want to join them in supporting R2RC, then go to the Campaign website and register your interest; alternatively contact the ADF.
